Identification Differs from all Hylogomphus that might occur with it (all but Mustached) in broad T3–4 not clearly separated. Very wide extent of black cerci also distinctive for male, although similar in Piedmont. Female, with scarcely any club, distinctive in small size and bright markings, including bold dorsal and lateral yellow spots on middle abdominal segments. These markings are distinctive against clubtails other than Hylogomphus, for example, PYGMY CLUBTAILS that have dorsal stripe and lateral spots and LEAST CLUBTAILS that have rings.
